September, 2009
Dear Friends, We greet you in the wonderful Name of Jesus!
The last camper has just left the yard and of course it saddens us to think that for most part the gatherings and group campouts tor the 2009 summer are over. We have had at least six or seven group gatherings at Refuge Ranch this summer and they have been good. We sure enjoy hosting them.
Our hearts are filled with Praise and Thanksgiving even though I'm recovering from a cold and fever. God is good all the time. Every now and then I experience a flare-up of arthritic pain that gets me out of bed at night to pray, and praise, and read. It is great intercourse with my Lord.
After hearing that 57 of church going people in North America believe that you can get to heaven without Jesus Christ the time at the Gloneta Couple's Retreat in New Mexico on the last weekend in July has become even more special There we experienced fellowship with people that had a hunger to grow in the knowledge of Jesus our Savior. It was indeed a blessed glorious time. So much so that my heart is filled with a desire to pursue that area of ministry more and more I believe that Carol and I have seen opportunity of ministry from Alberta to Ontario to the U. S. to Belize, Mexico, and into South America And somehow it seems our time for this ministry is limited. I guess we better get on with it.
Due to shortage of funds we have discontinued our "Freedom To Live" radio program on 1140 AM radio station at High River We sure appreciate our Board of Directors that help us make these kind of decisions. I shall now continue on in polishing my Low German language for ministry to those who do not understand English.
Prison ministry is carrying on in Drumheller, and Bowden. Our last visit to Bowden was under attack with this serious cold but I was not about to give it up. We went anyway, and had a blessed time. Next month I'm anticipating going with my two sons Chuck and Shawn. I believe it will be wonderful.
Since our last letter Carol and I have sung at the Rock Ridge, and Blackfalds Music Festivals. We have sung at an Anniversary Celebration in Alberta as well as in Manitoba. We have had siblings and relatives come for visits from one hour to five days in duration. What a wonderful summer it's been!
There have been numerous personal and by phone opportunities to counsel people with struggles of various kinds I pray for wisdom and guidance for those situations. Please pray with me. My prayer time sometimes seems heavy. I must learn to truly lean on our Lord as I think of and pray for others, for I can't carry that burden alone.
On my last phone conversation with Bernie Retzlaffin Berlin, he tells me he's doing well. He expressed his thankfulness in receiving Jesus as Savior while in a Canadian Prison. He said he can't see how he would make it without Christ I love to chat with him on the phone. Just to wish him well and encourage him. He sends greetings to all who remember him.
We still stand on the promise in Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. The Word also exhorts us to make our supplications, (asking for supply) with Thanksgiving. So we want to thank you our partners for the great part you take in this ministry.
Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen; Philippians 4:20
