The Latest News From Refuge Ranch:

October 2009 News

November Music Day was a special blessing. The Amundruds joined us for a great day of praise and worship with their wonderful musicianship and humble spirit. God blessed our time together through and through. Anyone attending would agree that the Amundruds are welcome at the Ranch anytime!

We Praise God that the November 7th Taber Concert went well and the weather was mild. The Community Centre was filled with approximately 300 people to hear some great music and the gospel clearly proclaimed. A big thanks to Kevin, Calvin and Joe for making the trip from Manitoba to present us with truly great bluegrass. Thanks too to Dan, Bill, Dave and their spouses for the dedicated help they gave and the music they brought.

The Sessions at Glorieta New Mexico in September were a challenge but also a wonderful blessing. A challenge because Rick soon found that he needed to speak in low German in order for all to understand. Carol says Rick was up to the challenge. There was also a challenge in realizing anew the great spiritual and marital need. It was wonderful to hear many individuals speak blessing to us after all the sessions. Activities At Refuge Ranch

Music Day at Refuge Ranch

Once every month The Gospel Troubadours and invited guest musicians have a 'Music Day' with two programs, one at 2:30 pm and another at 7:30 pm. Music Day is usually the second Saturday of the month but there are a few exceptions so please check this site for details or phone Refuge Ranch at (403) 546-4390. The guest musicians come from all over Western Canada and enjoy the honest relaxed atmosphere that is a hallmark of the Ranch. The variety of music covers mostly country, bluegrass and southern gospel genre, but not exclusively. For example, a Holdeman choir blessed the audience with a complete accappela program. One thing you can count on from every program is that it will be specifically set to honour our Lord Jesus Christ.

At present the 'Ranch Band' members are Rick Plett (autoharp and vocals), Carol Plett (vocals), Dwayne (Snoof) Neufeld (steel guitar), Dan Bueckert (vocals and lead guitar), Bill Thiessen (vocals and rhythm guitar), Ron Friesen (bass guitar), and Dave Unruh (drums).

Rick and Carol have recorded many albums through the years with a number of different musicians, in both  English and Low German. If you are interested in their music please contact them at (403) 546-4390.

The most recent music project from the Ranch is a CD called The Lighthouse. It features Rick, Carol, Dan Bueckert and Ben Crane.
